The Maldives has given a warm welcome to the 100,000th tourist to arrive in the country in the month of March as the industry broke another arrival record today.
Tourism Ministry said that an Egyptian named Hana Mohamed Ahmed Kamel Mostafa who came to the Maldives via an Emirates Flight was recognized as the 100,000th tourist to visit the Maldives this March.
At a special ceremony held at Velaana Internation Airport officials from the Ministry, Immigration, and other agencies were on-hand to welcome Hana on her arrival to the Maldives and presented her with commemorative gifts on the occasion.
The Ministry also said that she and her husband had planned to spend their vacation at Intercontinental Maldives Maamunaga Resort.
Tourism Ministry said with her arrival, the Maldives has broken another record as the country looks to build up after a devastating year for the leading industry amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
It said that tourist arrivals in a single month since reopening Maldives borders surpassed 100,000 today.
The tourism Ministry said since the borders reopened last year following months-long closure due to COVID-19, more than 283,383 tourists have visited the Maldives.
